This course is for people who want to get some chooks or have just purchased some recently and would like the best for them including not losing them to foxes or dogs..

It was an introductory course that includes a walk around looking at the differnet rare breeds when held here at the farm in Monbulk

Learn how to cater for their needs:- food( basic nutrition for each season), housing and the costs involved.this includes food mixes and their access to greens

The most important issue is housing, I have worked on my system of the pen and the " Day Run" for over 40 years so that when you get chooks you have the best chance to keep them.

Many others are now running very simple basic chook classes that are so basic that i must say my past course of 15 years  I have run in up to 13 community houses would be level 2 in comparison.

I will probably upgrade my next course to make it an adavanced class to satify the requirements of certificate IV & Diploma, ( thru RPL/ RCC if you wish) although this still means it would be easy to learn but add more areas such as balancing nutrition for eggs and breeding, Auto sexing and how to make cash from your chooks with probably less effort than you put in now.
